Japan has been part of my life for more than 30 years. I went to Japan in 1990 to work as an architect I knew virtually nothing about Japan other than a bit about Japanese architecture. When I returned to Australia nearly two years later with a love of nearly everything Japanese, which I later found out is not uncommon. My love for Japan and of Japanese culture has continued to grow over the years and has helped me develop a successful business, Robert Day Travel, focusing on Japanese Art, Design, Architecture and Culture. The friends that I made in Japan 30 years ago are still my friends and they have helped me build a professional network across Japan. These people are more than business associates, they are my friends, my Tomodachi and it is a great feeling to have their support. That is why I am a Tomodachi of Japan.
